The International Cake Show has announced its finalists for the Australian Haute Couture Wedding Cake Designer of the Year Awards. Women from Queensland are dominating the competition, with six competitors reigning from the sunshine state. Sarah Jane Wicks,  and Caitlin Mitchell from Brisbane, Louisa Massignani from the Gold Coast, and Zoe Clark from the Sunshine Coast are among the finalists.

Each designer was challenged to design and create a haute couture wedding cake in the theme of Rich, Royal & Regal. The winner will be announced on the evening of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Royal Wedding at the Australian Cake Artists & Decorators’ Association (ACADA) Australian Cake Oscars, presented by international master bakers Paul Bradford and Karen Portaleo.

The ACADA Australian Cake Oscars are the most prestigious awards within the Australian Cake Decorating Industry. Each finalist will display their finished masterpiece in the Haute Couture Wedding Cake Designer’s Marquee for the public to view. Celebrity cake artists, chocolatiers, chefs and bakers will be appearing throughout the three days of the show. A televised, live international cake off on the main stage will feature six of the world’s most famous cake artists, Paul Bradford, Karen Portaleo, Dorothy Klerck, Timbo Sullivan, Verusca Walker, Margie Carter and Paul Delaney.

The local community can get involved, with a Cookie Decorating zone, Make and Take zone and various classes, with six workshop areas conducting masterclasses. The event will be held at the Brisbane Showgrounds from 18 to 20 May.
