The Miss Sake Australia competition has officially launched in Australia, existing to select a cultural ambassador to share a love and understanding of sake, Japanese cuisine and the charm of Japanese culture both inside and outside of Japan. The program originated in Japan in 2013 and has subsequently expanded into other countries. The primary mission is to promote cultural understanding and world community through the appreciation of sake.

The opportunity exists for one talented candidate to become the first Miss Sake Australia and contribute to cultural appreciation and understanding between Australia, Japan and beyond. It also aims to empower women in an industry that was historically male dominated. The Miss Sake organisation supports and encourages the increasing number of women in Japan that are becoming Master Brewers and Brewery Presidents where once this was not the case.

Miss Sake Australia will have the chance to enjoy paid attendance to events and functions throughout the year as an official Cultural Ambassador. The successful candidate will be an articulate, charismatic individual who has a genuine interest in sake, Japanese cuisine and the culture of Japan. Miss Sake will act as a spokesperson at many cultural events and will engage with the community to share their passion for Japan. Included in this exciting program is a trip to Japan to be present at the Miss Sake Japan inauguration ceremony in March 2019. Applications are open until 31 January 2019.
