Australian Fashion label Sabo Skirt revealed its Luxe Resort Collection at Sydney Fashion Week on Wednesday 16 May with 120 attendees including key industry contacts and top Australian influencers. Guests were treated to pre-showing Aperol spritz, Messina Gelato ice cream and grazing tables, before the official Sabo Skirt Resort Collection, By Sabo Skirt show.
The 18/19 Spring/Summer collection features white eyelet lace, currant and pomegranate fruit prints, shirring, off shoulder cuts and billowing sleeves. Sabo Skirt co-owners Thessy and Yiota Kouzoukas said the collection was the result of months of hard work and included unique prints and designs conceptualised in house by the Sabo Skirt team. “Our show was an absolute dream, it embodied the personalisation that goes behind every Sabo Luxe piece – we hand painted the original prints we used on the collection,” said Thessy.
“It was a major pinch me moment, because this is the first time we have premiered a Sabo Luxe collection on home soil,” she said “We couldn’t be more thankful to everyone at Sabo HQ who made this happen and all our amazing supporters who came to the show or watched it on Instagram Live,” said Yiota.
Yiota has just given birth to her first child, son Connor, and Thessy is currently six months pregnant. Despite the baby chaos, the duo said they couldn’t have chosen a better time to premiere their designs to Australia. “People thought we were crazy when we said we wanted to do this – but it just goes to show there is no trade-off between being a mum and loving what you do… we can’t stay away and we’re very lucky to be able to do both,” said Yiota.
“We have so many amazing women who work for us, and so many amazing women who follow our Sabo Skirt journey, and we wanted to prove to them anything is possible,” said Thessy.
Sabo Luxe by Sabo Skirt has previously shown at New York Fashion Week in 2016 and 2017. The Sabo Luxe Resort Collection, by Sabo Skirt will be available for the public to shop next month.
