The Peacemakers Awards, hosted by Dispute Resolution Centre Australia (DRCA), recognises, celebrates and showcases the incredible contributions of multidisciplinary professionals in Australian Alternative Dispute Resolution and Collaborative Practice.

Not just for lawyers, the unique Awards honour Australian Mediators, Arbitrators, Psychologists, Life Coaches, Innovators and Life, Financial, Business, Property, Health and Wellness Experts who play a meaningful role in creating positive industry change. Adele Anthony of Your Legacy Lawyer has been named as a finalist for the 2021 Peacemakers Awards in the category Wills & Estates Peacemaker of the Year. Anthony founded Your Legacy Lawyer at the height of the Covid-19 pandemic because she believed that law in this area could be done differently.

Your Legacy Lawyer is a different option for those wanting to make a Will and Estate Plan to make sure their loved ones are looked after following their death. It is a mobile and virtual estate planning practice, operates outside the 9-5 norm, and has no fancy offices which enables it to achieve its aim of providing accessible and cost-effective legal services. Anthony also aims to help female lawyers who want the flexibility of working from home and has already employed two lawyers in the 10 months since Your Legacy Lawyer was established.

She is delighted to be named as a finalist and is proud of her achievements to date, particularly winning the pink trophy in the recent AusMumpreneur 2021 Awards and being nominated for a Women in Law Award (which has not yet been announced). The benefits on using an approach that may not yet be considered the norm is something that has the potential to attract significant benefits for one’s business, clientele and industry as a whole.

“Clients are able to access cost-effective legal services in way that is convenient for them, and lady lawyers are able to have true work-life balance,” says Adele Anthony. It can be challenging for one to go against the grain of how their industry operates. Anthony gives this advice for others who are second guessing themselves: “If you think something can be done differently, and well, have the courage to step outside of your comfort zone and do it. Make a change for the better. You have no idea how many people you will be helping.”

The winners of the premiere Peacemakers Awards are announced at an online event in October and published on their website afterwards.
