After an impressive couple of years since releasing her acclaimed album The Water, Byron Bay troubadour Sam Buckingham will hit the road solo, in support of her latest single Real Life. Buckingham’s new single Real Life dropped last Friday and she’s announced a five date national tour to support the release. She has become one of Australia’s most respected independent, self managed artists, known for her intimate and “almost spiritual” live shows.

Buckingham has been penning songs for her next release and Real Life is a sneak peek into the new work. I’m paying more attention to lyrics than ever before,” Buckingham said. “These days, I find myself mainly writing songs that speak to my experience of being a woman, just trying to navigate my way through life. Real Life is deeply personal, but when I shared a rough demo of it online so many women wrote to me saying that they could relate. That’s what prompted me to release the song properly and go on tour – I want to share my stories because they’re other people’s stories too.” In Real Life, rhythmic acoustic guitar compliments her gentle, indie melody and meaningful lyrics, it’s a beat that anyone can sing along to.

This tour is the start of a new chapter for Buckingham, who has spent the last couple of years touring with the likes of Kasey Chambers, James Reyne, Jordie Lane and Diesel, writing and performing in the USA and lapping the country three times on sellout tours of her own. Bringing her trademark intimate show to Sydney, Canberra, Melbourne, Brisbane and Lismore. Buckingham will take the stage solo, sharing stories behind the new songs and re-working favourites from her last two albums.
