Donna Fiechtner from Brisbane in Queensland is a dedicated and wonderfully talented teacher who has spent over 40 years educating young minds. She has an incredible and varied set of creative attributes at hand that have regularly shone on the public and private stage.

Over time she has turned her hand to all school levels, including administration as well as sharing her musical talents and love for sharing personal stories and experiences. She has regularly been highlighted for her creativity and enthusiasm in the classroom. She and her husband Michael have travelled the world extensively , living in both Japan and France with their two children Ryan and Isobel. International education is a special interest.

Donna has taken part in Peace Education in Japan in conjunction with the Hiroshima Peace Park and Foundation and curated activities in Australia. More recently she has discovered family history and shared some incredible adventures on the WW1 battlefields of France. An eerie and ghostly appearance to her niece led to the discovery of four great uncles who took part in the Great War. This set off a chain of events that would lead her to writing a movie screenplay and a follow up novel to go with the movie that is in development. The beautiful story tells a behind the lines story of relationships developed during the Great War.

Donna and Michael have developed The Vignacourt Project based on the French village of Vignacourt where over 2000 photographic plates of Soldiers (over 800 Australians) taken by Louie and Antoinette Thuillier were rediscovered in 2010.  A school program between France and Australia was developed and highlighted stories in both Vignacourt France and Childers in Queensland.  They also joined highly qualified and respected French Archaeologist Gilles Prilaux to produce a beautiful book unearthing stories of WW1 soldiers who left their signatures on cave walls in the small village of Naours in Northern France.

Donna is a talented writer, author and speaker. She is passionate about education and history and loves the journey of storytelling so beautifully highlighted in her debut novel, Photos in the Attic, which is out now by Big Sky Publishing.
