Chasing moonshots – culture, ambition and innovation

April 9, 2019 @ 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm

$195 – $310

Australia lays claim to a rich history of innovation, risk-taking, and connectivity to the global economy that has been central to the expansion of Australia’s economy. The benefits that innovation has brought to our lives are all around us in the quality of life that Australians enjoy and the meaningful work we undertake. However, recent indicators show that there is considerable room for improvement in Australia’s innovation system. Business investment in research and development has fallen, collaboration between industry and research is weak, and student performance in science and mathematics has fallen behind our global peers. This event will take you through, the economic and social benefits of ‘moonshots’ and ‘national missions’ the role leaders can play in supporting and inspiring organisations and individuals to innovate and be ambitious, how to promote the benefits of innovation and creation of new jobs and new industries without marginalising those whose jobs are impacting by the new economy and the future of work and current levels of ambition and innovation in telecommunications, technology, deep science, health and space industries and development of new industries.
