Francesca de Valence is passionate about leading a change in creativity for young people. She is the founder and director of I Heart Songwriting Club, which is launching a totally online Summer Songwriting Program for songwriters aged between 10 to 17 this school holidays.
The global online community has been running in-person workshops for the past year but with limitations on location and availability, many young songwriters could not be involved. This program is designed to be inclusive for every young songwriter from anywhere in the world and is also suitable for first-time songwriters who are ready to dive in and start writing songs. The 10-week program is fully mentored with support for young songwriters to write 10 songs in 10 weeks. The program includes video lessons, weekly challenges and mentor feedback and the course time commitment is only two hours per week making it possible to be apart of every young songwriters’ week. The mentors and teachers are outstanding songwriters and are long-term members of the global I Heart Songwriting Club community.
The leading teacher is founder and director Francesca de Valence, an internationally award-winning songwriter and educator holding a Masters in Music. The mentors include Sam Buckingham, who has toured alongside Kasey Chambers, Katie Noonan, James Reyne and Lior. Sam was long-listed for the esteemed Australian Music Prize and has traveled to Nashville and New York City to collaborate with some of the USA’s most celebrated writers. Dave Crowe who is known by his stage name Resin Moon, is an electronic producer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. A lifelong musician, Crowe began experimenting with beats and electronic production from the age of 16. An award-winning songwriter, his songs have been played on Triple J and major international television shows.
A global digital powerhouse for songwriting creatives founded in Brisbane in 2014, I Heart Songwriting Club has helped more than 300 songwriters write more than 6000 songs from 12 countries, many of which have made waves in the national and international music scene, including ARIA-nominated, Mama Kin Spender. In 2018, I Heart Songwriting Club was one of eight tech companies to showcase at BIGSOUND Music Tech Showcase and went on to present at WAMCON in Perth earlier this month.
