It all started with a blog that nobody was reading.Β β€œOnly my family could find it!” remembers Janet Camilleri from Front Page Web Writing, a boutique SEO agency based in the Redlands.

Having freelanced for magazines, and as a member of the Queensland Society of Editors, Janet knew the quality of the writing was not the problem.Β β€œThen I discovered Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) – a way of getting a website to rank on the front page of search results – and realised it was the key to driving traffic to any website.”

Fast forward 10 years and Janet has been named SEO Consultant of the Year in the Australian Enterprise Awards, and is also a Finalist in the Innovation and Technology Category of the Greater Brisbane Women in Business Awards.Β β€œGetting found online is crucial, particularly midst the challenges of 2020. But while most business owners have heard of SEO, many don’t understand it or know what they are paying for,” says Janet. β€œAnd unfortunately, that means horror stories abound.”

In an industry that is currently unregulated and has a tarnished reputation, Janet stands out for doing SEO differently.Β β€œI provide authentic, transparent SEO services to my clients, so they know what is being done on their behalf – because at the end of the day it’s their business and reputation which are on the line.”

While Janet started her career as a teacher, she left the profession shortly after completing her qualification. She thought she had left her teaching days behind for good but is now putting those skills to good use, providing training and workshops to educate and empower small business owners. β€œThat way, they can outsource their SEO with confidence.

I often quote a line from the Kevin Costner film, Field of Dreams: If you build it, they will come. But that doesn’t apply to websites. For that, you need SEO by a reputable firm like mine!”
