Katie O’Malley, Brisbane based Snowy Mountains Engineering Corporation (SMEC) Head of Marketing and Communication, was elected as a Director to the SMEC Foundation Board Earlier this year.

Katie joined Chairman Roger Bayliss and fellow Directors Philip Wilcox, Company Secretary & Manager Corporate Governance, and Angus Macpherson, Director of Operations. Bayliss is a Non-Executive Director of the SMEC Holdings Board and was elected Chairman of the SMEC Foundation Board in 2015.

“Katie brings to the Foundation board a critical link with SMEC staff. The SMEC Foundation was created in 2001 by staff initiatives to make a difference to disadvantaged communities where SMEC operates,” said Mr Bayliss. “This tradition underpins the company’s CSR programs and Katie’s expertise and drive will strengthen our connections to SMEC people who can really make a contribution to communities around the world.”

Katie joined SMEC in April 2016 as Marketing Operations Manager and was elected to the SMEC Foundation Board in 2018. Katie has broad experience in marketing, strategic partnerships, brand and communication, and holds a Bachelor of Visual Communication and Design from Victoria University, Wellington.

The SMEC Foundation partners with the SMEC Group to administer and deliver our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs globally. Since its establishment in 2001, the SMEC Foundation has donated small-scale grant support to over 200 projects in more than 30 countries in the areas of health, education, community development, emergency relief and the environment.
