Kelli Martin carries the trauma of dealing with years of deeply emotional and sometimes horrific cases of family and domestic violence. She speaks openly about her experiences with vicarious trauma, resulting in PTSD, and how this lived experienced helped her be a better, more empathetic lawyer.

Kelli is committed to ensuring that others in the legal profession place a high priority on their personal mental health. Her team knows they can be open and honest about their emotions and feel safe asking for support if needed.

Kelli is the Founder and Managing Partner of KLM Solicitors, specialists in criminal and family law, and domestic violence matters. Since first starting her legal firm in 2015 with just two staff, Kelli has grown a dedicated team of around 30 legal professionals. They work across three locations in Brisbane, along with an office on the Sunshine Coast.

This growth, and Kelli’s strong advocacy for access to justice, saw her recognised at this year’s Women in Business Awards, where she received the Greater Brisbane Woman in Business of the Year Award 2022.

As a mother of two young daughters, Kelli takes great pride in being a positive role model to her family, friends and team. She is a mentor to young women in the legal profession and the wider community. Her time as a volunteer solicitor with Women’s Legal Service Queensland, philanthropic pursuits with groups including SunnyKids and as former Chair of the Red Rose Foundation, are part of Kelli’s commitment to giving back and creating change.

And as Corporate Partner of Women’s Network Australia, Kelli shares her business experience and knowledge to help guide and inspire other women in business. Kelli says that even during the darkest times, it’s a privilege to be a voice for women and to lead by doing.
