Queensland abstract artist Libby Dyer is an intuitive abstract artist who gravitates toward bold, striking colour segments and fluid compositions. With an energetic and passionate approach to her medium and themes, Dyer creates through a positive and expressive process. “My painting process allows my creativity to unfold naturally and I accept that whatever authentically emerges from me is meant to be.”
Libby has recently had work featured on an episode of The Block, receiving a prominent placement in Jesse and Mel’s hallway reveal. The artwork, “Words of Wisdom – Enchanted Forest,” is a 121 x 121 cm canvas featuring mixed media of alcohol ink, spray paint and fluid acrylic paint. “Words of Wisdom” follows inspiration from the Ralph Waldo Emerson quote, “do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and lead a trail.”
The artwork was featured in the Art Lovers Australia online gallery, where contestants on The Block were able to select pieces each week to complement their renovations. Dyer was informed of Jesse and Mel’s choice in a phone call from Nancy Donaldson, Art Director at Art Lovers Australia. Dyer was ecstatic over the news, as becoming a featured artist on The Block was a professional goal for the artist. “So much has been learned and I am so thankful for those awesome artists along the journey; sharing their knowledge and advice,” said Dyer. “To say I am living my dream is an understatement.”
