Scarborough Originals, held monthly, showcases emerging and established talent. Throughout August, the focus will be on supporting female performers, with the four band bill featuring multi-genre musical acts fronted by women.
Headliner act C H U R C H is a collective of some of Australia’s finest jazz and neo-soul musicians who have been carefully assembled by West End veteran Ofa Fanaika. C H U R C H is a completely improvised jam session where each creation is unique, focusing on feel, ear and performance telepathy – skills that each of these musicians have mastered and is beautifully demonstrated at each C H U R C H event.
Supporting C H U R C H will be Brisbane based blues guitarist and incredible vocalist, Lecia Louise performing at Scarborough Originals as a female trio. Her blues guitar style is renowned on the blues trail through South East Queensland and Australia as a whole.
Sunshine Coast’s Solar will be performing as a duo. The multidimensional performer brings a unique flavour to the line up with a multi – cultural perspective on her funky blues tunes. Western Australia’s songstress Zoe Ryan will open Scarborough Originals on August 4th with a solo performance as part of her national tour.
The event is becoming well known for its original music talent that graces the grassroots stage every month. Music lovers have begun to create a new culture and a real sense of community on the Redcliffe Peninsula. Gathering together on the first Saturday of every month, attendees put down technology for a few hours, enjoy the beautiful surrounds of Scarborough and celebrate originality within the community. A refreshing break from the constant interconnectivity of today’s society. The event runs from 1pm in Jamieson Park, Scarborough on Saturday August 4th and is funded through the contribution of those attending.
