Street Science, a team of scientists and educators, have been bringing science to life for school kids across Australia for the past seven years.  This year, the team of women won the Small and Succeeding category at the 2019 Queensland Telstra Business Awards.  The team take a hands on, student centered approach that teaches the Australian Science curriculum in a fun, energetic and inspiring way.

The win is a huge accomplishment for the group, who were not expecting to take out Australia’s premier business award. The inspiring women involved in Street Science are science educators who are about  providing opportunities for kids to step out of their comfort zone, finding success through engaging styles of learning, and above all else, improving student outcomes.

Founder Steve Liddell and wife Kim are incredibly proud of their team, “our team are dedicated, amazing people who love science.  It is amazing to be recognised for what our passion is,” Steve said.

Based in Brisbane, Street Science engage with schools and communities along the East Coast of Australia, as well as servicing other major cities, regional districts, and international audiences.  The group of incredible and experienced women who won the award mix humour, exciting demonstrations and quality scientific explanations into an interactive science experience to be enjoyed by all ages.

For the past 27 years, the Telstra Awards have been a hub for Australia’s remarkable small and medium-sized business to gather, explore their dreams and to celebrate their achievements, becoming well known household name. Street Science will now go on to compete in the National Telstra Australian Business Awards in Melbourne on 21 November.
