Whether she is dancing like nobody is watching or motivating others to love the skin they are in, Taryn Brumfitt is a true body positive role model. Taryn has been nationally recognised for her work and is the South Australian state recipient of the Women and Leadership Australia‘s Excellence in Women’s Leadership Award. She has worked tirelessly founding the Body Image Movement and has dedicated her efforts to showing other women the value of loving their own bodies.

The Excellence in Women’s Leadership Awards first began in 2014 and their purpose is to promote the advancement of gender equality and increase the visibility of women in leadership roles. They recognising individuals who have modelled great leadership ability and strived for other women in their community to receive equitable access to leadership positions. Taryn’s work as an internationally recognised keynote speaker and fiercely passionate body positive role model has impacted thousands of women around the country.

In addition to founding the Body Image Movement, Taryn is a best selling author and director of the inspiring social change documentary Embrace. Her global crusade to end the body dissatisfaction epidemic has seen her recognised by UN Women, Amy Poehler’s Smart Girls and the Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media. Taryn has also been named alongside Beyoncé and Emma Watson in Germany’s Brigitte magazine’s Woman of The Year and her powerful message has reached more than 100 million people through the Los Angeles Times, The Washington Post, The Doctors, Good Morning America and The Today Show.

Taryn’s journey from mother of three from Adelaide to global role model stemmed from her own personal struggle with body image. She was contemplating getting plastic surgery but she realised what sort of example that would set for her daughter. So she cancelled her surgery appointment and never looked back, taking as many women as possible with her on a journey to self-love. Taryn had an “unwavering desire to teach, educate and shout around the world that loving your body can bring you happiness” and wanted to change other’s lives forever.
