Tracey Montford is the founder of Cake Maternity. It is still her baby, born out of her own personal frustrations during her first pregnancy back in 2007.

As she searched for comfortable, functional and stylish maternity and nursing wear, it appeared hitting all three was a trifecta that didn’t exist. This ultimately became her driving force to craft what she could not find: beautiful, functional, comfortable and sustainable pieces made to support mothers and Mother Nature.

Cake Maternity specialises in maternity and nursing bras, however, their offering has since grown to include clothing, sleepwear and swimwear — with each piece designed to grow with women as they embark on this new and exciting chapter in their lives. As nursing bra specialists, they’re passionate about breastfeeding (and the many benefits it offers to both mum, bub and the environment).

Tracey says that breastfeeding, whilst natural, does not always come naturally and they understand that every woman’s experience is different (and at times challenging). That’s why it’s their mission to empower women as they mindfully navigate the world of motherhood (helping to make breastfeeding easier, through experience-driven innovation), she said.

Cake Maternity understand that every mother’s needs are different, and is why they design and stock one of the largest range of maternity and nursing bras which includes: seamless, sleep, flexible wired, non-wired, sports, padded and plunge bras, in sizes from 10A-20J(AU).

According to Tracey, Cake Maternity approaches all aspects of its business in a responsible manner ensuring they impact the planet as little as possible. Practices include eco-friendly dyes (Oeko-Tex 100 Certified), biodegradable packaging to our solar-powered warehouse and offices. They’re just getting started and are committed to creating long term change because they know that the fashion-retail space is one where it’s needed most.
