Senior hair colourist & stylist, makeup artist, brow specialist, and tanning technician Kyrah Tuton is the proud owner of not one but two beauty salons, located in Gympie and Noosa… and she’s only 21 years old! Kyrah opened her first Studio Vogue Salon in April 2016 at the age of 19, aiming to bring world class quality to a small Australian town through a unique fashion-forward boutique salon for local residents.

“I’ve wanted to be a hairdresser for as long as I can remember,” says Kyrah. “I’ve always been creative, so I definitely have an inherent, natural passion for creating something incredible, but now that I’m in the industry I’ve realised it’s about more than that; I love the relationships I get to build with my clients, I love the community and culture that I’ve been able to create for local women, and I love seeing the sparkle in the eye and the bounce in the step as my clients leave after a jaw dropping transformation”.

Kyrah loved her work so much that she decided to expand, opening a second Studio Vogue Salon in a nearby location featuring floor-to-ceiling windows that enable clients to gaze out and enjoy the stunning waterfront views during treatments. And while Kyrah continues to enjoy running her own business and managing her two locations, she notes that it can definitely get challenging at times. Kyrah believes that in utilising available solutions to help her manage her growing business, she has built a tone of resilience, become a better businesswoman and humble human being, and learned how to overcome obstacles and setbacks. “I’ve developed skills I never thought I’d ever have had!”, she laughs.

The dream of a multi-venue beauty salon often seemed unattainable to Kyrah when she was younger. However, her perseverance and motivation resulted in plans to launch the first in what could be a number of Studio Vogue salons.

Kyrah’s best piece of advice for aspiring business owners? ‘Schedule everything’, she says. While Kyrah has created her own website with a list of services and products offered, she turned to a professional online booking service dedicated to the Australian beauty industry to help her better organise her appointments, attract new clients, and help her to stay on top of her ever-increasing client base.
