Luxury furniture manufacturer Xavier Furniture is celebrating its 20th anniversary. The company is co-owned by interior designer Wendy Neilson.
Xavier has been designing exquisite pieces for award-winning restaurants, hotels and homes across the country for the past two decades. When founding the business, Wendy Neilson saw a lack of refined furniture in the Australian market and began developing elegant pieces with the romantic and exquisite influence of Europe, the United States, and exotic British Colonial style.
Together with daughter Nadine and husband Des, a builder of distinguished homes, they launched Xavier Furniture as an Australian-owned wholesaler, bringing stylish ranges to discerning interior designers. “Working as an interior designer, I found it difficult to source furniture in Australia. My goal was to assist all designers with finding the right furniture for their projects, without the hassle and expense of sourcing from overseas,” says Nielson. “Having a background in high-end residential and boutique commercial projects, I understood design, construction, and quality builds. I worked alongside my husband in the designing and specification aspects, creating truly unique homes of distinction.”
Nielson says successful designing for over decades requires a focus on timeless elegance, rather than following trends, seamlessly blending traditional and contemporary styles for pieces that stand the test of time. She has drawn inspiration for her designs from the laid-back luxury of the Hamptons, refined New York City living, the classic elegance of Singapore style, and grand European flair, creating beautiful pieces for every space. “I always believed in producing unique pieces that are expertly crafted, and endure a design life cycle, rather than pieces that are just part of a trend. They extend beyond the now,” says Nielson.
