Australian Women in Agriculture (AWiA) will be hosting an insightful open networking brunch and general meeting on Friday 13 April 2018 from 10am yo 11.30 am at the Toowoomba Royal Show. Committed to ensuring that women influence the agricultural agenda, the brunch will include presentations from AWiA President Sarah Parker, Queensland Board Member Janine Milne  and Vice President Charlotte Aves.

Sarah Parker will discuss outcomes of her recent trip to the United Nations representing Australia at the 62nd Commission of the Status of Women which focused on gender equality and the empowerment of rural women and girls, as well as adressing challenges and opportunities for improvement.

Janine Milne will present on innovative programs being used to introduce and teach agriculture to students through Science Technology Engineering and Maths (STEM) subjects, including state of the art technology and research practices.

Charlotte Aves will discuss outcomes to date from the Stronger Sustainable You panel held at the 2017 Women in Agriculture Conference. The work included collaboration with Dr Skye Saunders, Australia’s leading expert in sexual harassment in rural communities. Further information about the event can be found here.
