US television star Katrina Bowden is set to be the lead in the new thriller Great White.

Bowden, of 30-Rock and The Bold and the Beautiful fame, will touch down in the Sunshine State and join screenwriter Michael Boughen and rising stars of Australian film and television Aaron Jakubenko and Tim Kano. The film, which will be set off the coast of Brisbane, follows the story of a couple abandoned in the middle of the reef while on a dive.  The story of Great White is similar to the tragic real-life story of American couple Tom and Eileen Lonergan who were left stranded in the Coral Sea by their tour boat operator. The couple are presumed dead.

Bowden, who has visited Australia previously, said she feels lucky to work in the Australian film industry. “I am so excited to be back in Australia to shoot this film,” Bowden said. “It has been nine years since my last visit and this time around I am really getting familiar with beautiful Queensland,” she said. “I feel very lucky to get the chance to work in Australia, especially on a film project I love so much that is unlike others I have done before. It is going to be a very fun adventure.”

The film is slated for release in 2021.
